Quick tips for a balanced lifestyle
Perhaps you find that satisfying the demands at work creates consequences in your personal life, and meeting personal, family and social needs has an impact at work?
This creates stress and tension.
You may think that if only you managed your time better all would be well. However life balance is not just about time management and getting things done, it's about achieving success across all areas of life simultaneously. To take a Work/Life Balance Test, click here.
Now, check out what action you can take today.
Health
Do you eat healthy life giving food? Do you smoke? Is your weight right for your height? Do you have sufficient exercise? Engage your will to make at least one positive adjustment today. For example you could book a dental check up or eye test today.
Money
How well do you manage your income? Are you financially independent? Do you have limiting beliefs about wealth and the wealthy? What one step can you take today to reduce your outgoings or increase your income? Are you being paid enough? Ask yourself what messages and rules you picked up from your parents about money.
Significant relationship
If you are not in a relationship, do you want to be? How do you find a Soul Mate? How much quality time do you spend with your partner (or yourself)? Do you have shared dreams and aspirations? If not, why not? Decide today to have a regular date night when you restrict your conversation to your hopes and dreams for the future and how you can support each other with this. (If you are on your own set aside the time to consider your own hopes and dreams and how you will achieve them)
Fun and Recreation
How much time do you spend each week doing what you really enjoy? Take a few minutes to remind yourself who or what makes you laugh, relax, forget yourself? Who are the people and what are the activities? Call those people or arrange those activities this week. Have a barbeque!
Career and Business
How many hours a week do you work over your contracted time? When you say "Yes" to that amount of work, what are you saying "No" to; time with friends and family, the homemaking or creative projects that you never have time for? What plan do you have for what comes next? Do you feel like a change, but you don't know what else to do? Take 5 minutes to consider what you would do if you knew you couldn't fail, and what limiting beliefs stop you from pursuing that dream.
Friends and Family
Family and social networks are important to our well being. How much time do you spend with yours? Make an arrangement today to spend some quality time with at least one family member or friend you keep meaning to see and don't seem to get around to it. Just pick up the phone NOW.
Home/physical environment
Your surroundings can impact on how you feel, and on your energy levels. Make a list of all the unfinished jobs around your home. If you are money rich and time poor perhaps you could pay someone to do them. If you haven't got one, get a cleaner or at least someone to do your ironing. Order your shopping online. Clear your clutter one room a week. Consider buying some indoor plants and pictures. Make an action plan today.
Personal Development
Our sense of fulfilment depends mainly on whether we continue to grow and develop. What would you like to learn? Perhaps you fancy singing or writing, learning a language, salsa dancing, sailing, painting, you name it? You might want to consider your spiritual development . You could take up yoga or meditation. Make a point of deciding on one or two new things to learn today, which will stretch you and put you in the way of adding more people to your circle of friends.
